There is No Single Obesity Treatment

We know our seniors are some of the highest risk individuals for the Coronavirus. Now It’s looking like obesity may be the second-highest risk factor. Although many people are saying obesity is particularly risky in the younger population, combining the two top risk factors is a recipe for a very bad outcome. That’s why it’s important to find a good obesity treatment. Learn how to treat obesity and you will feel a lot healthier.

It makes sense that obesity could put people at high risk. Here are some of the reasons it puts people at higher risk:

  1. Obesity is caused by poor cellular energy production in our mitochondria. Instead of making energy, we are making fat and free radicals.  This starves our immune system of the energy needed to keep us Well.
  2. Obesity creates massive inflammation which degrades immune function and damages our protective 1st line of defense – our mucosa that covers our nose, throat, sinus, lungs and more.
  3. Obesity increases our risk of the deadly “cytokine storm” in which our dysfunctional immune system destroys the virus in our lungs and then gets stuck “ON” and damages and destroys our lung tissues. This can lead to massive drops in blood pressure, organ failure, and death.

These lockdowns sure don’t help. When everyone is ‘sheltering-in-place’ it is very challenging to avoid junk food and exercise on a regular basis. It makes it very tough to seek obesity treatment

How to Treat Obesity – Several Methods

I know many people struggle with obesity. There is no single way for how to treat obesity. It’s not as simple as following the latest fad diet. Even the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) doesn’t want to offer much advice. When I looked at their website, the only advice it has for obesity treatment was:

“Take your medications for any underlying health conditions exactly as prescribed.”

Good advice as far as it goes, but it doesn’t go very far. It sounds like obesity has many different factors which cause it. Here is a diagram of everything that influences obesity:

Boiling it down seems to result in two factors affecting how to treat obesity and obesity treatment:

  1. Genetics
  2. Our modern lifestyle

We all know lots of people who eat tons of junk and never gain a pound. That’s genetics. And there’s not a whole lot you can do about it.

Modern lifestyle, on the other hand, has some opportunities. Modern lifestyle includes toxins, stress, poor sleep, lack of exercise, nutrient deficiencies etc.. Eating a lot of processed foods is a big culprit. Obesity was very uncommon 100 years ago. As of 2 years ago (2017-2018) the CDC estimated that almost 40% of Americans were obese. The number is also growing. Trying to reduce the problems of our modern lifestyle will also help with obesity treatment.

If you do have an elderly relative that is significantly overweight, one of the best things you can do for them during this Pandemic is to help them lose weight. But too much isn’t good either. Many elderly people become very thin Trying to find a good balance is a great way to help your senior feel great and avoid a bad disease.
