20 Welcoming Churches in Goodyear AZ (& 1 Synagogue)

A couple weeks ago, we wrote a blog post about churches in Surprise, Arizona. Three of our assisted living homes are in Surprise. And many of our residents are interested in religion. We wanted to help them (and you?) find the right church for their faith. This week, we wanted to do the same for churches in Goodyear. Hopefully these will help our residents and their families in our Goodyear assisted living home. Goodyear is home to lots of different denominations – the Catholic Church in Goodyear, other christian churches in Goodyear AZ and non-denominational churches in Goodyear AZ.

Unlike Surprise, there is also a Synagogue for Jewish worshippers. For our Muslim friends out there, unfortunately the closest Mosque to Goodyear is in Avondale. Please let us know about any other Synagogues or Mosques in the area in the comments below.

Just as with the churches in Surprise, we have not visited a whole lot of them. We are just trying to provide an unbiased view of each of them. We will try to visit them more in the future. As we do, we will try to update this post with the latest. And once again, we don’t endorse one church over the others. We just hope this guide will help you pick the right one for you and your family.

We just put the churches in alphabetical order. It seems like a large portion of the churches in Goodyear are non-denominational.  We’ve also included the contact information and website for each church.

If you have a senior citizen in your family, or someone else who has trouble with transportation, there are a lot of services that can help. In another blog post, we listed a bunch of transportation services available in Surprise. These services should be able to service churches in Goodyear as well.

Non Denominational Churches in Goodyear AZ

AZ Vineyard Church

255 N Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 932-2500. They are only one of two churches we’ve found with their own podcast! They seem very family friendly and especially kid (and grandkid!) friendly.

Chabad of Goodyear

14555 W Indian School Rd Suite 400B, Goodyear, AZ 85395 – (623) 466-6110

The only Synagogue on our list of churches in Goodyear. Chabad of Goodyear was founded in 2010. They embrace all Jews, regardless of how much emphasis they put in their faith. Although technically not a church, we included it in the list of non denominational churches in Goodyear AZ because it doesn’t really fit into any other category.

Christian Churches in Goodyear AZ

Christ Evangelical Lutheran

918 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 932-2394. They are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

16060 W Van Buren St, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 935-3060. Here’s an example of one of their sermons:

Crossings Church

15778 W Yuma Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 466-6262. A very ‘come as you are’ attitude. They encourage you to dress casually and feel at home in their church. The live music is pretty good!

Desert Springs Community Church

14440 W Indian School Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85395 – (623) 435-2105. You can find their sermons on YouTube– which makes sense because they use lots of video and special effects for their presentations. Here is their latest as of the writing of this article:

Estrella Mountain Church

Palm Valley Church

Redeeming Grace Church

3610, 3673 S Bullard Ave, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 925-2440. Redeeming travels around the community with a house to house ministry and Men’s and Women’s study groups.

Refinery Christian Church

16721 W Indian School Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85395 – (623) 925-2000. They have a bunch of different groups (Refinery Kids, Refinery Women, Refinery Men etc.) where you can enjoy fellowship in addition to their regular services. They also partner with various local and global mission organizations to spread Christianity. You can see some of their sermons here. Not to mention, they have some good music:

River of Life Lutheran Church

725 S Estrella Pkwy #120, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 312-8650. Here’s how River of Life describes themselves since they started in 2013:

We’re a Gospel church. No self-help sermons here. You won’t leave with a list of things to do or an extra scoop of guilt on your already full plate. We don’t pump you up on Sunday only to watch you fall flat by Monday. You and I make lousy saviors, so we need Jesus. Our church is centered on the Gospel (good news) of the finished work of Jesus Christ. That doesn’t mean the weekly message is impractical, but our focus is on what Jesus did for us. Thirsty people need refreshment, not a reminder that they should’ve planned more or followed through better. Jesus is refreshing truth for thirsty people.

Skyway Church

14900 W Van Buren St, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 935-4858. The folks at Skyway Church describe themselves as

a hospital, a training center, and a launching pad for ministry at home and around the world – HEAL. TRAIN. SEND.

They are non-denominational and the services are about an hour and a half long.

The Rock Church

877 North Sarival Road, N Sarival Ave, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 932-1009. They actually have two locations, one in Goodyear and one in Arrowhead.

Wellspring Church

2001 N Bullard Ave, Goodyear, AZ 85395 – (480) 788-3330. Wellspring has a fun event called “Pizza with a Pastor” where you can get to know the priest and hear about what goes on at Wellspring Church. For a sample recent sermon, please see below:

Catholic Church Goodyear AZ

Saint John Vianney Church

800 W Loma Linda Blvd, Goodyear, AZ 85338 – (623) 932-3313. This is the only Catholic Church Goodyear AZ that we know about. Do you know another one? Please leave a comment if you do. Like many Catholic churches, they have a school for your kids or grandkids if you are seeking one. Besides this Catholic church Goodyear AZ, there is another one in Surprise if you need an alternative.
